Okay so, before I start my speech here today, let me just say; Baloney! In fact, let me go out on a limb here and ask a question of our audience; Exactly how many jobs do you suppose we will have to kill in order to get to that ever elusive 4.5 million jobs that President Obama and the Obama Administration had promised us - just wondering if anyone here has an answer to that? I'm waiting, should I give our audience more time, should I hold my breath, should I wait for Obama's tenth term in office? I mean what's the deal here anyway?
There was an interesting article and editorial in the Investment Business Daily only July 14, 2011 titled; "The Green Economy Withers" which stated;
"Even after fudging numbers and ignoring the huge subsidies, a liberal think tank reports that growth in the alternative-energy sector lags the rest of the economy. The Brookings Institution report touted nearly 2.7 million people brought home paychecks in 2010 working in the "clean economy." That's a 3.4% increase in "green jobs" since 2003, and it sounds terrific until you realize the economy as a whole grew at a 4.2% rate over the same period."
Now then, that conservative think tank report discussing those 2.7 million jobs in that report, happen to include of all the employees in nuclear energy, mass transit, organic farming, and ethanol production amongst other things. Guess what? We can blame Bush for those 2.7 million jobs in alternative energy, not the Obama Administration. In fact, there has been a net loss of "real" alternative energy jobs in our country since Obama took office, and most of those companies manufacturing solar cells, wind-turbines, etc, well they all went to China my friends.
Last time I checked China was on the other side of the planet and isn't part of the US yet, and I suppose someday they'll own us due to our government's spendthrift ways, but still we are two separate countries on opposite sides of this pale blue dot in space. Needless to say the job creation there for manufacturing alternative energy components, and technology doesn't count here. Now then, let's consider all the jobs we've killed to push alternative energy, and how many more jobs we will kill in the future as we inadvertently increase the costs of electricity. You can expect all these new regulations to cause electricity rates to triple.
And you thought you'd consider buying an electric car to protect yourself from high oil and gasoline prices? Please. Well, that's where we are at folks and that's the reality, and it's time we stopped this insanity, stopped the subsidies, stopped pretending, and started paying attention to what we are doing. We can't get there from here, not using these current methods or strategies. Suffice it to say, we are not going to produce 4.5 million jobs in alternative energy, and even if we could through controlling the flows of money, labor, production, energy, and capital, we'd have to kill our entire economy to do it.
No thanks, Mr. Obama!
